The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) unveiled two significant initiatives aimed at improving digital connectivity and security across India: the National Broadband Mission (NBM) 2.0 and the Sanchar Saathi mobile application On January 17, 2025. A key focus of NBM 2.0 is to ensure that 60% of rural households—or 60 out of every 100 homes—gain access to broadband connectivity with a minimum fixed broadband download speed of 100 Mbps.

This initiative allows users of multiple telecom providers—including BSNL, Airtel, and Reliance—to access 4G services from a single DBN-funded tower.
