Positive Trends in Sex Ratio and Girl Child Enrollment Under BBBP Scheme

Launched on January 22, 2015, the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative by the Ministry of Women & Child Development, in partnership with the Ministries of Education and Health & Family Welfare, has achieved significant progress in addressing gender disparities. Data from the Health Management Information System (HMIS) reveals an increase in the Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB) from 918 in 2014-15 to 930 in 2023-24. Additionally, the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) for girls at the secondary level improved from 75.51% in 2014-15 to 79.4% in 2021-22, as per UDISE+ data. The scheme continues to focus on eliminating gender bias, protecting girls, and promoting education.

Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak Passed: Civil Aviation Minister Hails Milestone

The Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024, signifies a groundbreaking reform in India’s aviation industry by replacing the 90-year-old Aircraft Act of 1934. SBI Card Surpasses 20 Million Credit Cards Milestone

SBI Card has crossed a major benchmark with over 20 million credit cards in circulation. Since entering the market in 1998, the company has maintained consistent growth, recording a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 25% in issued cards and 26% in customer spending from FY19 to FY24. This achievement solidifies SBI Card’s position as the second-largest credit card issuer in India, following HDFC Bank, which also achieved the 20 million milestone earlier this year.

Small Finance Banks Allowed to Offer Pre-Sanctioned Credit via UPI

Following its December 6, 2024, Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting, the RBI announced that Small Finance Banks (SFBs) can now provide pre-sanctioned credit lines through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
