GST Revenue from Health and Life Insurance Witnesses Significant Growth
- The Union Government collected ₹16,398 crore as Goods and Services Tax (GST) from health and life insurance services in the fiscal year 2024, reflecting a 680% growth from ₹2,101 crore in FY20.
- However, the figure slightly declined compared to ₹16,770 crore in FY23. Life insurance services contributed ₹8,135 crore, while health insurance services added ₹8,263 crore.
- Additionally, ₹2,045 crore was collected from reinsurance, with life reinsurance contributing ₹561 crore and health reinsurance contributing ₹1,484 crore.
- Notably, government schemes like Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) remain GST-exempt.
