Pakistan Suspends Simla Agreement; Closes Borders, Airspace, and Trade with India
Following the Pahalgam terror incident, Pakistan has decided to suspend the 1972 Simla Agreement.
The Wagah border has been shut, Indian airlines are now banned from Pakistani airspace, and all trade activities with India have been terminated.
Pakistan cited alleged Indian involvement in terrorism as the reason for these drastic measures.
This comes after India’s earlier actions, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, downgrading diplomatic relations, cancelling visas, and shutting down the Attari border post.
With virtually all bilateral treaties now inactive, tensions between the two nuclear-armed countries have intensified.
Pakistan has issued a stern warning, declaring any attempt by India to divert Indus river waters as an “Act of War.”
Major Revamp Planned for Karnataka’s Yeshasvini Health Scheme
The Yeshasvini Health Insurance Scheme in Karnataka is set for significant reforms based on recommendations from an expert panel.
Proposed changes include a 15% to 25% hike in rates for medical procedures and a 50% increase for complex treatments like pediatric cardiac surgeries and cancer care.
Originally relaunched in 2022–23 to improve healthcare access in rural areas.
The revision also suggests adding 69 new medical procedures while phasing out 6 outdated ones.
Currently, the scheme serves 45.6 lakh members but has only 782 hospitals on its panel.
The updates aim to draw more hospitals into the network, ensure financial viability, and strengthen universal healthcare coverage.
The estimated cost for these improvements is ₹127.5 crore, with a proposed additional budget allocation of ₹40 crore.

Renowned for its rich wildlife, it is home to 55 species of mammals and 361 bird species and is a key tiger reserve.
