SBI introduces ‘Grahak Mitras’ to promote alternate banking services
The State Bank of India (SBI) is set to enhance customer support by deploying “Grahak Mitras” through its subsidiary, State Bank Operations Support Services (SBOSS).
These Grahak Mitras will offer primary-level assistance to customers and encourage them to use alternate digital banking channels instead of traditional in-branch services.
Approximately 4,500 branches, or around 20% of SBI’s total 22,740 branches across India, will host these support personnel.

Telangana introduces the Bhu Bharati Act, 2025 for improved land governance
The Telangana Government has enacted the Telangana Bhu Bharati (Record of Rights) Act, 2025, to reform the state’s land governance framework.
This legislation is a response to shortcomings and widespread discontent associated with the earlier Dharani portal-based system.
The Bhu Bharati Act emphasizes decentralization and increased citizen involvement to establish a transparent, efficient, and inclusive land administration system.

Finance Ministry refutes GST claims on UPI transactions above ₹2,000
The Ministry of Finance has officially denied any proposal to levy Goods and Services Tax (GST) on UPI transactions exceeding ₹2,000.
It labeled such claims as entirely false, misleading, and baseless.
Reinforcing its support for digital payments, the ministry clarified that no Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) is applicable on person-to-merchant UPI transactions, and hence, GST is not applicable.

Kerala launches Vehicle-to-Grid pilot in collaboration with IIT Bombay
The Kerala State Electricity Board is initiating a pilot project that incorporates Vehicle-to-Grid technology into the state’s power grid.

The pilot aims to enhance grid stability, accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles, and support renewable energy integration through bi-directional energy flow.
IBC to host international conclave on Buddhism in Northeast India
The International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) is organizing a two-day conclave titled ‘Buddha Dhamma and the Culture of Northeast India’.
The event is scheduled for April 21–22, 2025, in Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh.
It will explore the cultural and spiritual influence of Buddhism in the Northeastern region of India.

Ajay Bhushan Pandey appointed Vice President at AIIB
Former Indian bureaucrat Ajay Bhushan Pandey has taken on the role of Vice President (Investment Solutions) at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
His responsibilities will include overseeing the bank’s finance solutions, sectoral strategies, sustainability practices, fiduciary responsibilities, and portfolio management.
He will be based at the AIIB headquarters in Beijing.
AIIB is a Beijing-based multilateral development bank with a total capital of US$100 billion and has received top-tier AAA ratings from global credit rating agencies.
India is the bank’s second-largest shareholder.

India and Slovakia sign their first defence MoU; JCBL Group plays key role
A historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of defence has been signed between India and Slovakia.
The agreement involves Airbornics Defence & Space Pvt. Ltd. (ADSL), the defence division of JCBL Group.
The MoU focuses on co-developing advanced technologies for next-generation combat vehicles under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
The signing took place during the official state visit of President Droupadi Murmu to Slovakia.
