Dominica to Bestow Highest National Honour on PM Modi

RBI Introduces Framework to Convert FPI Holdings to FDI
- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has rolled out a new framework allowing Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) to reclassify their investments as Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) if their shareholdings exceed 10% in Indian firms.
- This streamlined process will help FPIs align with FDI norms, subject to necessary government and company clearances.
- The rules, effective from November 11, 2024, provide FPIs a five-day window to reclassify excess shares to comply with Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) and sector-specific FDI limits.
RBI Reaffirms SBI, HDFC Bank, and ICICI Bank as D-SIBs
- The RBI has reaffirmed State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC Bank, and ICICI Bank’s status as Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs), adding that SBI and HDFC Bank will face increased capital requirements from April 2025.
