Kuhoo Finance Secures NBFC Licence from RBI

Kuhoo Finance, a student-loan-focused fintech startup, has been granted a non-banking financial company (NBFC) licence by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
This licence allows Kuhoo to provide loans directly from its own books in addition to working with partner NBFCs and banks.
The newly acquired status will enhance the firm’s lending capabilities, enabling it to offer education loans of up to ₹2 crore for various academic disciplines.
Kuhoo intends to broaden its financial product offerings to include executive education and upskilling programs.
The startup also plans to strengthen collaborations with financial institutions and educational entities to improve student loan accessibility across India.
To fund its growth and expansion, Kuhoo is preparing to secure additional capital.
In 2022, the company received ₹20 crore in investment from WestBridge.

Moody’s Predicts India’s GDP Growth to Surpass 6.5% in FY26

Moody’s has forecasted that India’s GDP growth will exceed 6.5% in FY26, an increase from the estimated 6.3% in FY25.
Key factors driving this growth include higher government capital expenditure, tax reductions, and lower interest rates, which will enhance consumer spending.
The rating agency maintains a stable outlook for India’s banking sector.
However, there is a concern over asset quality deterioration due to pressure in unsecured retail loans, microfinance loans, and small business loans.
Despite these challenges, bank profitability is expected to remain stable as the decline in net interest margins (NIMs) will likely be marginal amidst modest rate cuts.
Although India experienced a temporary economic slowdown in mid-2024, its growth momentum has revived, positioning it among the fastest-growing large economies globally.

TransUnion CIBIL and FACE Collaborate on Financial Literacy Initiative

TransUnion CIBIL and the Fintech Association for Consumer Empowerment (FACE) have partnered to promote financial literacy and credit awareness in India.
The initiative, called CIBIL Jaagran, aims to educate consumers about credit management and improve access to credit through fintech solutions.
Under this partnership:
- TransUnion CIBIL will contribute expertise and co-branded educational content.
- FACE, an RBI-recognized Self-Regulatory Organization (SRO) in the fintech sector, will engage its 165+ fintech members to spread financial awareness.
TransUnion CIBIL’s vast data repository and analytics will support the initiative with relevant content.
The educational materials will include emails, articles, videos, webinars, and podcasts.
FACE will utilize its own and its members’ digital platforms to maximize audience reach.

Water Sustainability Conference 2025: Key Discussions & Outcomes

The Bureau of Water Use Efficiency (BWUE), under the National Water Mission (NWM) of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, hosted the Water Sustainability Conference 2025 in collaboration with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).
The event took place on March 12, 2025, at NDMC Convention Centre, New Delhi and focused on Industrial Water Use Efficiency.
Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Shri C. R. Patil, inaugurated the conference.
He emphasized the 4R approach—Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Recharge—and introduced Respect as the fifth key principle for sustainable water management.

India Participates in the 4th ‘No Money for Terror’ (NMFT) Conference

The 4th ‘No Money for Terror’ (NMFT) Conference was held in Munich, Germany, focusing on global measures to curb terror financing.
India, an active participant in NMFT since 2018, reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening international cooperation in countering terrorism.
The Indian delegation highlighted emerging threats from digital financial networks and cross-border transactions and called for greater global collaboration against terror financing.

India Leads as Top Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Source for Dubai in 2024

India has become the largest contributor of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into Dubai in 2024, surpassing the United States, France, and the United Kingdom.
Dubai has retained its position as the top global destination for Greenfield FDI projects for the fourth consecutive year, as per Financial Times Ltd.’s ‘fDi Markets’ data.
India’s FDI share in Dubai stands at 21.5%, surpassing:
- U.S. – 13.7%
- France – 11%
- UK – 10%
- Switzerland – 6.9%

India’s Retail Inflation Drops to a 7-Month Low in February 2025

India’s retail inflation fell to 3.61% in February 2025, marking the lowest level in seven months.
Food inflation dropped below 4% for the first time in nearly two years, increasing expectations of an interest rate cut in the April 2025 RBI meeting.
Key statistics:
- Retail Inflation: 3.61% (lowest in 7 months)
- Food Inflation: 3.75% (lowest in 21 months)
- Vegetable Inflation: -1.1% (deflation) compared to +11.4% in January 2025
- Pulses Inflation: Shifted to deflation from +2.6% in January
- Core Inflation: Highest in 7 months, largely due to rising gold prices.
- Personal Care Inflation: 13.6% (up from 10.6% in January)

Finance Ministry Approves ₹10,000 Crore Zero Coupon Bond Issuance by PFC

The Finance Ministry has sanctioned Power Finance Corporation (PFC) to issue Zero Coupon Bonds (ZCBs) worth ₹10,000 crore.
These bonds will be issued at a discounted price and redeemed at face value upon maturity.
Zero Coupon Bonds (ZCBs):
- Do not provide periodic interest payments.
- Offer returns through the difference between the purchase price and the redemption value.

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has won the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Airport Experience Award 2024 for the Best Airport Over 40 Million Passengers in Asia-Pacific.

Delhi Airport has won this award for seven consecutive years.

Jayshree Vencatesan Becomes First Indian to Receive Ramsar Award

Jayshree Vencatesan, co-founder of Chennai-based Care Earth Trust, has become the first Indian to win the Ramsar Award for ‘Wetland Wise Use’.
The award recognizes her contribution to sustainable wetland management, particularly her efforts in conserving India’s wetlands, including Pallikaranai Marsh in Chennai.
She is among 12 global women leaders acknowledged for wetland conservation.

NASA Launches SPHEREx Telescope to Map the Universe

NASA’s SPHEREx telescope was launched aboard a SpaceX rocket from California.

SPHEREx will also investigate water and life-forming molecules in interstellar clouds.

Tejas Fighter Jet Successfully Test Fires Astra Missile

The Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) AF MK1 successfully test-fired the Astra Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile (BVRAAM) off the Odisha coast.
The missile achieved a direct hit on a target, marking a significant step in the LCA AF MK1A’s development.
Developed by DRDO, Astra has a range of over 100 km and is already in service with the Indian Air Force.
