Argentina Signs $20 Billion Deal with IMF, Ends Currency Restrictions
Argentina has finalized a 48-month, $20 billion Extended Fund Facility agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
As part of the plan, the country will receive $12 billion by April 2025, followed by another $2 billion in June.
The initiative is designed to assist Argentina in regaining access to global capital markets and attracting support from international and bilateral partners.
A central focus of the program is the promotion of fiscal discipline and a more adaptable foreign exchange policy.
Argentina’s central bank will abolish the existing fixed currency rate and instead allow the peso to trade within a range of 1,000 to 1,400 pesos per US dollar.
Currency restrictions, locally known as “cepo” and in place since 2019, will be mostly lifted as part of broader financial reforms.

Chandrayaan-3’s ChaSTE Probe Successfully Measures Moon’s Surface Temperature
The Chandra’s Surface Thermophysical Experiment (ChaSTE) instrument aboard the Chandrayaan-3 Vikram lander achieved a scientific milestone by recording direct temperature data from the moon’s surface.
The probe, which landed on August 23, 2023, penetrated 10 cm into the lunar soil near the south pole.
Data collection continued until September 2, 2023, confirming the presence of more widespread water ice than earlier estimated.
The experiment marks a significant advance in lunar science and India’s space research capabilities.

Madhur Bajaj, Former Bajaj Auto Vice-Chairman, Passes Away at 73
Madhur Bajaj, an esteemed industrialist and former vice-chairman of Bajaj Auto, passed away at age 73 in Mumbai after a brief illness.
He had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital and suffered a stroke two days before his passing.
His final rites were held at the Worli crematorium on Friday afternoon.
Born on August 19, 1952, Madhur Bajaj was a third-generation member of the prominent Jamanlal Bajaj family and had stepped down from his leadership role in January 2023 for health reasons.
