Non-Banking Financial Companies Raise ₹3.23 Trillion from Domestic Debt Market in H1FY25
Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs), including government-owned finance entities and refinancing institutions, raised over ₹3.2 trillion from the domestic debt capital market during the first half of FY25 (April to September 2024). The highest amount for the fiscal year, totaling ₹74,507 crore, was secured in September 2024 alone, marking the second highest in the calendar year.

Reserve Bank of India Approves Bond Buyback Bids Worth ₹24,453 Crore
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) accepted bids amounting to ₹24,453.3 crore in a buyback auction of government securities, against a notified amount of ₹25,000 crore. Banks’ bids were more than double the notified sum, reflecting strong market interest. This auction has been one of the most successful since the RBI resumed buybacks in May 2024, after a six-year pause.

Citigroup and Mastercard Collaborate for 24/7 Cross-Border Debit Card Payments
Mastercard and Citigroup have partnered to offer round-the-clock cross-border payments via debit cards. Citigroup is the first global bank to implement Mastercard’s Move service, enabling transactions like insurance claims, airline refunds, and e-commerce payments. This collaboration aims to streamline international transactions, allowing clients to operate without concerns about borders or currency differences.

Following the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) approval, Partha Pratim Sengupta was appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Bandhan Bank for a three-year term, starting November 10, 2024. His appointment follows the retirement of Chandra Shekhar Ghosh in July 2024.
