Mehul Choksi Arrested in Belgium on India’s Extradition Request

  • Mehul Choksi, a fugitive diamond businessman linked to the Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam, has been apprehended in Belgium.

  • The arrest follows India’s official extradition request, according to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

  • Choksi and his nephew Nirav Modi, currently undergoing extradition proceedings in the UK, are accused of defrauding PNB of over ₹13,500 crore in 2018.

  • The complaint was initially filed by PNB against Choksi, Nirav Modi, and the Managing Director of Gitanjali Gems.

MoU Signed Between NaBFID and New Development Bank for Infrastructure Development

  • The National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID) and the New Development Bank (NDB) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

  • The MoU aims to develop a sustainable infrastructure financing market and support long-term infrastructure growth.

  • The partnership focuses on bridging the infrastructure financing gap in India.

  • Key collaboration areas include clean energy, sustainable transport, water management, and environmental projects.

Asian Development Outlook – April 2025

  • The agreement seeks to expand cooperative dairy operations to every village in the state.

STELLAR – Indigenous Resource Adequacy Model Launched

  • The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) launched the STELLAR software tool on April 11, 2025.

  • This integrated model aids in planning for generation, transmission, and energy storage with demand response features.

  • It was introduced by CEA Chairperson Shri Ghanshyam Prasad with the involvement of partner TLG and state utilities.

  • The model aligns with the Ministry of Power’s Resource Adequacy Guidelines issued in June 2023.

  • STELLAR will be distributed free of cost to all Indian states and electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs).

Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) Baseline Report 2022–23 Released

Andhra Pradesh Announces LEAP Education Reform from 2025–26

  • Andhra Pradesh will launch the LEAP (Learning Excellence in Andhra Pradesh) program in the academic year 2025–26.

DRDO Conducts Successful Trials of Gaurav Long-Range Glide Bomb

  • The DRDO successfully tested the Gaurav Long-Range Glide Bomb (LRGB) between April 8 and 10, 2025.

  • The trials were conducted using the Su-30 MKI aircraft.

  • The bomb has a range of around 100 km and demonstrated high precision during the tests.

  • Developed by RCI, ARDE, and ITR Chandipur, with support from CEMILAC and DGAQA.

  • The weapon was tested in different warhead configurations against land-based targets.
