Mehul Choksi Arrested in Belgium on India’s Extradition Request
Mehul Choksi, a fugitive diamond businessman linked to the Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam, has been apprehended in Belgium.
The arrest follows India’s official extradition request, according to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Choksi and his nephew Nirav Modi, currently undergoing extradition proceedings in the UK, are accused of defrauding PNB of over ₹13,500 crore in 2018.
The complaint was initially filed by PNB against Choksi, Nirav Modi, and the Managing Director of Gitanjali Gems.
MoU Signed Between NaBFID and New Development Bank for Infrastructure Development
The National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID) and the New Development Bank (NDB) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The MoU aims to develop a sustainable infrastructure financing market and support long-term infrastructure growth.
The partnership focuses on bridging the infrastructure financing gap in India.
Key collaboration areas include clean energy, sustainable transport, water management, and environmental projects.
The MoU encourages joint research, knowledge exchange, capacity building, and hosting of seminars.
Asian Development Outlook – April 2025
The Asian Development Bank (ADB), in its April 2025 report, projects India’s GDP growth at 6.7% for FY2025 and 6.8% for FY2026.
Growth is attributed to robust domestic demand, higher rural income levels, and reduced inflation.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), however, has revised its projection to 6.5% for FY2025 due to global trade volatility and policy-related uncertainties.

MoU Between NDDB and MPCDF for Dairy Development in Madhya Pradesh
The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and the Madhya Pradesh Cooperative Dairy Federation (MPCDF) have signed an MoU.
The agreement seeks to expand cooperative dairy operations to every village in the state.
The initiative aims to increase milk production and processing capacity while enhancing rural farmer incomes.
STELLAR – Indigenous Resource Adequacy Model Launched
The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) launched the STELLAR software tool on April 11, 2025.
This integrated model aids in planning for generation, transmission, and energy storage with demand response features.
It was introduced by CEA Chairperson Shri Ghanshyam Prasad with the involvement of partner TLG and state utilities.
The model aligns with the Ministry of Power’s Resource Adequacy Guidelines issued in June 2023.
STELLAR will be distributed free of cost to all Indian states and electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs).
Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) Baseline Report 2022–23 Released
The Ministry of Panchayati Raj released the inaugural Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) Baseline Report for FY 2022–23.
It evaluates over 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats based on nine Localized Sustainable Development Goal (LSDG) themes.
The index is intended to promote evidence-based planning, effective monitoring, and improved rural governance.
Andhra Pradesh Announces LEAP Education Reform from 2025–26
Andhra Pradesh will launch the LEAP (Learning Excellence in Andhra Pradesh) program in the academic year 2025–26.
Education Minister Nara Lokesh announced the initiative aimed at enhancing learning outcomes and 21st-century skills.
LEAP aligns with the goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Hamad International Airport (Doha) came second, winning Best Airport in the Middle East and Best Airport Shopping.
Tokyo Haneda Airport ranked third, honored as the World’s Cleanest Airport and Best Domestic Airport.

DRDO Conducts Successful Trials of Gaurav Long-Range Glide Bomb
The DRDO successfully tested the Gaurav Long-Range Glide Bomb (LRGB) between April 8 and 10, 2025.
The trials were conducted using the Su-30 MKI aircraft.
The bomb has a range of around 100 km and demonstrated high precision during the tests.
Developed by RCI, ARDE, and ITR Chandipur, with support from CEMILAC and DGAQA.
The weapon was tested in different warhead configurations against land-based targets.

Remembering the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre of 1919
April 13, 1919, marks the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, a tragic incident during India’s freedom struggle.
British troops under General Reginald Dyer fired on a peaceful gathering, killing hundreds of unarmed civilians.
The massacre became a pivotal moment, sparking nationwide protests and strengthening the movement for independence.
135th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Celebrated on April 14, 2025
The 135th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar will be commemorated on April 14, 2025, at the Parliament House Lawns in New Delhi.

INS Sunayna Makes First Port Call at Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania under IOS SAGAR
INS Sunayna, part of the Indian Ocean Ship (IOS) SAGAR mission, docked at the Port of Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.
The ship sailed from Karwar, Karnataka, with naval officers from nine Friendly Foreign Nations (FFNs) of the Indian Ocean Region.
Participating countries included Comoros, Kenya, Madagascar, Maldives, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, and South Africa.
