The Government of India has broadened the scope of the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) by incorporating 10 additional agricultural commodities for trading.

THDC Enters Thermal Power Sector with 660-MW Plant in Uttar Pradesh

THDC India Ltd (THDCIL) has successfully commenced commercial operations of a 660-MW unit at the Khurja Super Thermal Power Plant (STPP) in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh.
This marks THDCIL’s first venture into the domestic thermal power sector.
The 1,320-MW project (comprising two 660-MW units) is being developed at an estimated investment of ₹13,000 crore.
The second unit is expected to be operational soon.
The plant is equipped with Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) technology, ensuring cleaner emissions and supporting India’s sustainable energy goals.

RBI Imposes Penalties on Federal Bank & Karur Vysya Bank

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has penalized two banks for non-compliance with regulatory guidelines:
- Federal Bank Ltd: ₹27.30 lakh fine.
- Karur Vysya Bank Ltd: ₹8.30 lakh fine.
The penalties were imposed following RBI’s inspections, which revealed violations in account management and credit delivery systems.
This enforcement action reinforces RBI’s commitment to maintaining banking discipline and regulatory compliance.

14th Asian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum 2025

India and Egypt have commenced the third edition of their joint special forces military exercise, ‘CYCLONE-III’, at the Mahajan Field Firing Ranges in Rajasthan.
The exercise will be conducted from February 10 to 23, 2025.
It follows the second edition, which was held in Egypt in January 2024.
The primary objective of ‘CYCLONE-III’ is to enhance interoperability and strengthen military coordination between India and Egypt.
