National News

Panchayat Advancement Index Baseline Report 2022–23 Released

  • The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has introduced the inaugural baseline report of the Panchayat Advancement Index for the financial year 2022–23.

  • This newly developed index measures the functioning of more than 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats  nationwide.

  • Assessment is based on nine themes aligned with Localized Sustainable Development Goals.

  • The purpose of this tool is to promote transparent governance, facilitate data-driven planning, and foster healthy competition among Panchayats.

Cabinet Approves M-CADWM Sub-Scheme under PMKSY

  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a new sub-scheme under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, titled Modernization of Command Area Development and Water Management.

  • The scheme has been allocated a total budget of ₹1,600 crore for the financial year 2025–26.

  • The program seeks to enhance irrigation infrastructure, introduce water-saving practices, and integrate advanced technologies to uplift agricultural yield and farmer earnings.

Madhya Pradesh Announces Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Abhyaran

  • The government of Madhya Pradesh has declared a new wildlife sanctuary in the Sagar district, spanning 258.64 sq. km.

  • Named “Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Abhyaran,” the sanctuary is a tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, announced just before his 134th birth anniversary on April 14.

  • This move is aimed at reinforcing wildlife preservation, promoting eco-tourism, and creating jobs for nearby communities.

Launch of Inter-AIIMS Referral Portal for Digital Healthcare

  • Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, J.P. Nadda, has launched a new digital platform, the Inter-AIIMS Referral Portal.

  • Developed by AIIMS New Delhi, this system is designed to optimize patient referral processes across AIIMS institutions.

  • It aims to reduce administrative bottlenecks and improve inter-hospital coordination for efficient healthcare delivery.

Expanded Ayushman Bharat Launched in Odisha

  • Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda is set to visit Odisha for the rollout of an expanded version of the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

  • The expansion will be launched in Cuttack, accompanied by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

  • Along with Ayushman Bharat, two other health insurance initiatives will also be introduced, aimed at extending coverage and medical accessibility.

Padma Shri Awardee Daripalli Ramaiah Passes Away at 87

  • Daripalli Ramaiah, affectionately known as “Vanajeevi” or “Chettu Ramaiah,” passed away at the age of 87 in Khammam district, Telangana.

  • He suffered a heart attack at his residence in Reddipalli village.

  • Renowned for planting over one crore saplings, Ramaiah was honored with the Padma Shri Award in 2017 for his lifelong dedication to environmental protection and afforestation.
