India’s Efforts and Obstacles in Eliminating Tuberculosis by 2025
- In 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged to eradicate tuberculosis (TB) in India by the year 2025, aiming to achieve this goal five years ahead of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) target set for 2030.
- The SDG objectives for 2030 focus on a 90% reduction in TB-related deaths and an 80% decrease in TB incidence rates compared to the data from 2015.
- In alignment with these goals, the World Health Organization’s (WHO) End TB Strategy has established milestones for 2025, which include a 75% reduction in TB deaths and a 50% reduction in TB incidence from 2015 levels.
Launch of the National MSME Cluster Outreach Programme by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman
- Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman, officially launched the National MSME Cluster Outreach Programme.

- An electoral cooperation agreement was signed between the Election Commission of India (ECI) and Uzbekistan’s Central Election Commission.
- The signing ceremony took place in Tashkent during the visit of India’s Chief Election Commissioner, Rajiv Kumar, who was there as an international observer for Uzbekistan’s elections held on October 27.
- This agreement aims to strengthen collaboration and share best practices in the field of electoral management and administration between the two countries.
Discovery of Al-Natah: A 4,000-Year-Old Fortified Town in Saudi Arabia
- Archaeologists have uncovered an ancient fortified town named Al-Natah, hidden within the Khaybar oasis in northwest Saudi Arabia.
- Dating back approximately 4,000 years to around 2400–2000 BCE, the site offers valuable insights into early urbanization in the region.
- The discovery was led by Dr. Guillaume Charloux from the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and Dr. Munirah AlMushawh from the Royal Commission for AlUla.
- Their findings have been published in the esteemed scientific journal PLOS ONE, highlighting the town’s historical significance and architectural features.

Madhya Pradesh Enhances Women’s Reservation to 35% in Government Jobs
- The government of Madhya Pradesh has increased the reservation for women in all government employment from the previous 33% to 35%.
- This policy applies across all categories, including Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and the General category.
- Within each of these categories, 35% of the reserved positions will now be allocated to female candidates, aiming to promote gender equality and empower women in the public sector workforce.
