This initiative aims to revamp 1,000 government-run Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and set up five National Centres of Excellence for advanced skill development over a span of five years.
The scheme is projected to train approximately 20 lakh young individuals, aligning vocational training programs with current industry requirements.
Cabinet Gives Nod to Revised SHAKTI Policy Featuring Two-Tier Coal Linkage System for Power Plants
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has endorsed a new version of the SHAKTI Policy, which governs coal linkages for thermal power plants.
The revamped structure includes:
Window–I: Coal supply at government-notified prices.
Window–II: Auction-based linkages that operate with a premium, offering flexibility in allocation.
The update is designed to streamline the coal allocation process for Central and State government power generators, as well as private Independent Power Producers.

Maldives Unveils $8.8 Billion Plan for Financial Free Zone in Male
The Maldivian government has announced an ambitious plan to develop the Maldives International Financial Centre (MIFC) in its capital, Malé, with a total investment of $8.8 billion.
The MIFC project is a collaborative effort with MBS Global Investments, a Qatari-owned firm.
Targeted for completion by 2030, the financial centre is envisioned as a sustainable Freezone aimed at transforming the Indian Ocean region into a vibrant business hub.

India Conducts Operation Sindoor Against Terror Camps in Pakistan and PoK
The Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy executed a coordinated military operation, dubbed “Operation Sindoor,” targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The operation was carried out in retaliation for the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, including a Nepali citizen. Most of the victims were targeted based on their religious identity.
Lasting a mere 25 minutes, from 1:05 AM to 1:30 AM IST, the mission demonstrated India’s advanced military coordination and precision.

Paras Defence and Israel-based Heven Drones have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on May 6, 2025, to create a joint venture for drone manufacturing in India.

The joint venture will specialize in building logistics and cargo drones capable of carrying payloads between 10 kg and 40 kg.
