Kazakhstan Unveils Largest Rare Earth Reserve
Kazakhstan has made a significant discovery of rare earth elements (REEs) at the Kuirektykol site in the Karaganda region.
This site is now the country’s largest known REE deposit.
The site reportedly contains nearly one million tons of rare earth elements.
In the broader Zhana Kazakhstan zone, estimated reserves could exceed 20 million tons.
This discovery comes at a time when the global push for green technologies is increasing.
It positions Kazakhstan as a new and critical supplier in the rare earth market, potentially reducing global reliance on China.

Government to Roll Out “One State, One RRB” Policy
The Indian government plans to implement a new policy called “One State, One RRB” (Regional Rural Bank).

India secured private AI investments totaling Rs. 11,943 crore (around US$ 1.4 billion) in 2023.

The country’s ranking in the UNCTAD Frontier Technologies Readiness Index improved from 48th in 2022 to 36th in 2024 (out of 170 countries).

Meta Launches Llama-4 AI Suite to Compete with ChatGPT and Gemini
Meta has introduced the Llama-4 AI suite, expanding its presence in the generative AI space.

Pentagon Awards $13.5 Billion Launch Contracts to SpaceX, ULA & Blue Origin
The U.S. Space Force has awarded $13.5 billion in launch contracts for 54 missions under the NSSL Phase 3 program.
SpaceX received 28 missions, worth $5.9 billion, using Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy rockets.
United Launch Alliance (ULA) was assigned 19 missions valued at $5.3 billion, deploying the Vulcan rocket.
Blue Origin secured 7 missions worth $2.3 billion with its New Glenn rocket, which debuted in January 2024.
The contracts fall under Lane 2 of the program, dealing with complex orbital requirements.
Missions will be scheduled over the next five years via task orders.
SpaceX is expected to lead in the first year due to its flight reliability.
India Ramps Up 6G Development Through Labs and Global Partnerships
India is advancing its 6G development efforts to become a leader in next-generation telecom by 2030.
Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar shared the roadmap in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.

DRDO and Indian Army Successfully Test Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missiles
DRDO and the Indian Army conducted four successful tests of the Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM) system.
The tests occurred on April 3 and 4, 2025, at Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island, Odisha.
The missile intercepted aerial threats under various conditions: long-range, short-range, high altitude, and low altitude.
Each target was directly hit and destroyed, confirming the system’s effectiveness.
Trials were conducted in real-world operational scenarios.
Radar and electro-optical systems at the Chandipur test range recorded the flight data.
High-ranking DRDO and Army officials oversaw the trials.

World Health Day Observed on April 7
World Health Day 2025 was celebrated globally on April 7.
The theme for this year is “Healthy Beginning, Hopeful Futures,” focusing on maternal and newborn health.
The World Health Organization (WHO) uses this day to promote physical, emotional, and mental well-being worldwide.
The idea for a global health body was first proposed in 1945 by China and Brazil.
The WHO Constitution was ratified in 1946, and 61 nations signed the agreement.
Although initially celebrated on July 22, World Health Day was later shifted to April 7.
The day also encourages student participation in spreading awareness.
