PM Narendra Modi to attend 6th BIMSTEC Summit in Thailand

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Bangkok, Thailand to participate in the 6th Summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).

  • The summit is slated for April 4 and carries the theme “Prosperous, Resilient, and Open BIMSTEC,” as stated by the BIMSTEC Secretariat.

  • Prior to the main event, preparatory meetings will include a session of BIMSTEC Senior Officials on April 2 and a meeting of Foreign or External Affairs Ministers on April 3.

  • The upcoming summit marks the first in-person BIMSTEC gathering since the virtual 5th Summit held in Colombo in 2022.

  • Renowned historian and archaeologist MyNaa Swamy has been selected for the prestigious Ugadi Award by the Andhra Pradesh government.

Ambuj Chandna joins DBS Bank India

  • Ambuj Chandna, previously a senior executive at Kotak Mahindra Bank, has been appointed as Managing Director and Head of the Consumer Banking Group at DBS Bank India.

  • Prior to this, he held the position of President and Head of Consumer Bank (Products) at Kotak.

  • Chandna brings over 16 years of leadership experience from Kotak Mahindra Bank to his new role at DBS.

Nidhi Tewari appointed as Private Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi

  • Indian Foreign Service officer Nidhi Tewari has been designated as the Private Secretary to PM Narendra Modi.

  • Her appointment was sanctioned by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet as per a memorandum issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on March 29.

SpaceX launches first private polar orbital mission, ‘Fram2’

  • SpaceX successfully launched its first private human mission that orbits over Earth’s polar regions.

  • The mission, titled “Fram2,” involves four astronauts and is a privately funded, multi-day journey.

  • The mission includes unique scientific experiments such as performing the first-ever X-ray in space and cultivating mushrooms in a microgravity environment.

  • The name “Fram2” is inspired by the original Norwegian exploration ship used for Arctic and Antarctic voyages in the 19th century.

Dhruva Space collaborates with Japan’s Infostellar for satellite communication

  • Hyderabad-based Dhruva Space has formed a partnership with Japanese firm Infostellar to integrate Dhruva’s 3.8-meter S&X-band antenna into the global StellarStation platform.
