India Introduces Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme (GHCI) & Strengthens MSME Role
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) hosted a national-level workshop in New Delhi focusing on the potential of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the green hydrogen ecosystem.
At the event, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi officially inaugurated the Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme of India (GHCI), aiming to standardize and validate the origin and sustainability of green hydrogen produced in the country.
National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) – 2024: Guidelines for Bio-input Resource Centres Released
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare has unveiled comprehensive guidelines for establishing Bio-input Resource Centres (BRCs) under the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF).
Launched in November 2024, NMNF aims to promote eco-friendly and chemical-free farming practices nationwide, enhancing soil health and sustainable agriculture.
Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam Launches India’s First Certified Green Municipal Bond
Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN) has become the first Urban Local Body (ULB) in India to float a Certified Green Municipal Bond.
The ₹150 crore raised will finance the development of an advanced Tertiary Sewage Treatment Plant (TSTP) for water recycling.
This milestone is part of the Swachh Bharat Mission–Urban and highlights India’s progress in urban sustainability and innovative financing mechanisms.
Greenfield NH-6 Corridor Approved to Link Meghalaya and Assam
The central government has sanctioned the Shillong–Silchar Greenfield Corridor, a vital infrastructure project designed to improve Northeast India’s connectivity.
This four-lane, access-controlled expressway will span 166.80 kilometers, traversing largely mountainous terrain.
The corridor is expected to enhance logistics, boost tourism, create jobs, and support economic integration between Meghalaya and Assam.
It is in alignment with broader strategic initiatives like the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan and Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Nepal to Impose Restrictions on Mount Everest Permits
Nepal is preparing to implement a new law that will limit Mount Everest expeditions to only experienced climbers.
According to the draft legislation, climbers must have previously summited a peak taller than 7,000 meters before being granted permission to scale Everest.
The decision comes in response to growing concerns about overcrowding, rising fatality rates, and environmental degradation on the world’s tallest mountain.

Amazon Initiates Full-Scale Satellite Launch for Project Kuiper
On April 28, a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V rocket was successfully launched from Cape Canaveral.
This mission, called Kuiper-1, deployed the first operational satellites for Amazon’s Project Kuiper, which envisions a broadband internet network comprising over 3,200 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO).

Former Vice Chief of Army Lt Gen S Pattabhiraman Passes Away at 78
Lt General S Pattabhiraman, a former Vice Chief of the Indian Army, has passed away at the age of 78.
He had a distinguished four-decade-long military career and served as the Colonel Commandant of The Bombay Sappers.
Notably, he was the first to serve as the Director General of Information Systems in the Indian Army.
He also commanded the Indian Army’s largest operational unit, the Western Command, and retired in 2006 after holding several prestigious positions.
