Prime Minister Narendra Modi Attends 6th BIMSTEC Summit in Thailand
PM Modi embarked on a two-day visit to Thailand to participate in the 6th BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) Summit.
The focus of the summit is on enhancing regional trade, transportation links, and economic partnerships among member nations.
Following the summit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to travel to Sri Lanka to reinforce bilateral relations.
Centre Holds Back SSA Funds for Three States
The Central Government has not disbursed funds under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) to Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal for FY 2024–25.
This funding delay occurred despite approved allocations and was disclosed by Minister of State for Education, Jayant Choudhary, in a written reply to CPI(M) MP John Brittas in the Rajya Sabha.
Warangal’s Chapata Chilli Secures GI Tag
The Chapata chilli, a distinct variety grown in Thimmapur of the united Warangal district in Telangana, has been awarded the Geographical Indication (GI) tag.
Known for its bright red color and mild pungency, the chilli contains an oleoresin content ranging between 6.37% and 6.75%.
This recognition is expected to provide a significant boost to local farmers by enhancing the chilli’s market value and global appeal.
India Advocates Climate Action and Funding at BRICS Environment Ministers’ Meet
During the 11th BRICS Environment Ministers’ Meeting in Brasília, Brazil, India urged member countries to ramp up efforts for achieving the 2030 Climate Agenda and the 17 UN-adopted Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Indian delegation, headed by Amandeep Garg, Additional Secretary, MoEFCC, emphasized the need for strengthening climate financing mechanisms and mobilizing $1.3 trillion in support.

According to Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index (February 2025), Mumbai recorded the slowest fixed broadband speeds among major Indian cities, ranking 123rd globally at 58.24 Mbps download speed.
Delhi led among Indian cities, ranking 89th globally with 91.11 Mbps.
India’s national average download speed stood at 61.66 Mbps, with upload at 57.89 Mbps and 7 ms latency. Mumbai’s performance is attributed to its dense population and challenging urban layout.

Veteran Actor Manoj Kumar Passes Away at 87
Bollywood legend Manoj Kumar, famous for his patriotic roles and direction, passed away on April 4, 2025, at the age of 87.
