Sarhul Festival Celebrated Across Jharkhand
On April 1, 2025, Jharkhand’s tribal communities celebrated the Sarhul Festival, welcoming spring and the traditional new year.

Amit Shah, along with Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, inaugurated a statue of Maharaja Agrasen in Hisar.

Amit Shah Launches Development Projects Worth ₹800 Crore in Bihar
On International Cooperative Day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled welfare schemes and development initiatives totaling over ₹800 crore in Bihar.
₹111 crore has been allocated to boost the cooperative sector, with an emphasis on cooperative banking, agricultural credit, and strengthening Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS).
₹421 crore is earmarked for urban infrastructure and affordable housing projects.
Law enforcement received ₹181 crore to improve infrastructure, including the creation of 133 new police stations.
Another ₹109 crore was dedicated to enhancing road transport and highway networks to improve connectivity and trade efficiency.

RBI Celebrates 90 Years of Financial Governance
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) marked its 90th anniversary on April 1, 2025, commemorating its establishment in 1935 under the RBI Act of 1934.
Nationalized in 1949, the RBI played a key role in India’s economic liberalization (1991) and the expansion of digital payments and financial inclusion in recent years.
Sir Osborne Smith served as the first Governor, while Sir C.D. Deshmukh was the first Indian Governor of the RBI.

UPI Sets New Record in March 2025
Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions reached a new peak in March 2025, totaling ₹24.77 trillion in value and 19.78 billion in transaction volume.
This marks a 13% increase in transaction value and a 14% rise in volume compared to February.
For FY25, UPI facilitated ₹260.56 trillion in transaction value (up 30% YoY) and 131.14 billion transactions (up 42% YoY), reaffirming its leadership in India’s digital payments space.
Renault Takes Full Ownership of India Unit
Renault Group will buy the remaining 51% stake in Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt Ltd (RNAIPL) from Nissan, gaining total control of the Chennai plant.
This move follows their 2023 joint investment of $600 million to develop six new car models for the Indian market.
The RNAIPL facility, founded in 2010 as a joint venture, had already seen Nissan reduce its stake in 2023.
The acquisition supports Renault’s strategy to restructure globally and strengthen its manufacturing footprint in India.

India Projected as Fastest-Growing G20 Economy by Moody’s
Moody’s Ratings forecasts India’s GDP growth at 6.5% for FY 2025-26, the highest among G20 countries.
The slight dip from 6.7% is attributed to external global factors, but domestic demand remains strong.
Growth drivers include tax policy improvements, higher income tax rebate (exemption raised to ₹12 lakh), and a reduction in RBI’s interest rate to 6.25%.
Inflation is expected to stabilize around 4.5%, providing a conducive environment for investment and consumption.

Ambuj Chandna, formerly with Kotak Mahindra Bank, has joined DBS Bank India as Managing Director and Head of Consumer Banking Group.
Chandna’s extensive banking experience includes retail and lending roles at Deutsche Bank and Standard Chartered Bank.
He succeeds Prashant Joshi, who had joined DBS in 2020.
This appointment follows the elevation of Rajat Verma as CEO of DBS Bank India in March 2025.

Fram2 Mission by SpaceX Achieves Historic Milestone
On March 31, 2025, SpaceX launched the Fram2 mission, the first human spaceflight to orbit Earth over the poles.
The all-civilian crew aboard Falcon 9 will conduct 22 experiments in a 90-degree polar orbit at 430 km altitude over 3 to 5 days.
