Government Achieves Target of 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations Under Flagship Scheme
- The Central Sector Scheme for the Formation and Promotion of 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 29, 2020.
- This initiative is backed by a total budget allocation of ₹6,865 crore and will run until the financial year 2027-28.
- The scheme aims to strengthen small and marginal farmers by improving market access, providing financial support, and enhancing their collective bargaining power.
- The milestone of establishing the 10,000th FPO was recently achieved in Khagaria, Bihar, with a focus on agricultural products such as maize, banana, and paddy.
- So far, approximately 30 lakh farmers have been integrated into FPOs, with nearly 40% of them being women, significantly contributing to agricultural growth.

India Extends $1 Million Grant to Lao PDR for Rice Fortification Project

India and Japan Renew $75 Billion Bilateral Currency Swap Agreement
- The Bank of Japan, acting on behalf of the Japanese Minister of Finance, along with the Reserve Bank of India, signed an amendment and restatement agreement for their Bilateral Swap Arrangement (BSA).
- The agreement allows both nations to exchange their local currencies for US Dollars when needed, promoting financial stability and strengthening economic cooperation.
- The agreement remains unchanged in terms of its size, maintaining a swap facility of up to $75 billion.
